For months it seems we have all been saying, “in the spring.” And now, spring is right around the corner. One of our spring celebrations this March will be the one-year anniversary of the opening of Blush Beauty Bar and Laser Studio in Sixty West’s Waterford Station.
Blush’s co-owner 32-old Davalyn Clark tells us more about the past year of daring to build the dream and the many rewards that come with the doing: strategic planning, designing and starting up.
Besides the entrepreneurial side of starting the business, Davalyn says what she really loves is the “scientific side of aesthetics and skin care.”
“It can be life-changing,” she says, adding that she is a “big fan” of growing old gracefully and the positive benefits of looking as good as you feel.
“I don’t want to look 30 for the rest of my life, but I want to look good for the rest of my life.”
Davalyn says that celebrities are part of changing the game when it comes to the reception of skin care. Stars like Jennifer Lopez are endorsing the Hydra-Facial machine and Kim Kardashian has promoted laser treatments.
After she found her niche and that gap in the town that had room to be filled, she also discovered her personal favourite treatments to offer. Laser is her number one for hair removal and photo-facials, which are used to restore skin pigmentation and even treat acne.
Some of the other treatments, she and co-worker Kate Sutherland offer, are waxing, brow lamination, lash lift, tinting, chemical peels and micro-needling; lash extensions are coming soon.
Recently Kathy West joined the team to add injectables into the mix for those who are looking to add more shape and relaxation to the face.
Davalyn has worked the beauty industry since 2008 and holds a bachelor of arts and she is happy to now add successful business owner to her title.
“I loved the idea of doing what I love.”
