In February of this year, when Falcon Homes celebrated 25 years in business, owners, Erica and John Christie, wanted to do something special to commemorate. So, they did.
Along with their many trade partners, sponsors and even sports teams, the Falcon home at 5 Springfield Blvd in Sixty West is being built to be sold with profits going to local charities.
Erica and John have a long history with Falcon Homes, including how they met, and are committed to finding ways to continue the business’s commitment to “Building a Better Community and Giving Back.”
Erica’s mom, Val Steinbach was a local realtor when Falcon Homes’ founding partners, Kevin and Gina Pardy and Gary and Karen Pardy, came from Newfoundland to build new homes. They soon hired Val as their manager, who sold homes for the company from 1998 – 2018. Erica’s father, Gord Steinbach, became a Realtor and brought buyers and sold homes helping Falcon in the busy years between 2004 to 2018.
During this time, Erica also worked many jobs within the business and as a real estate assistant, while working towards obtaining her education degree. She met her husband, John, when he arrived in Sylvan Lake and built a home with Falcon Homes.
After venturing out into the world and then returning home, John became the full-time draftsman for Falcon Homes and eventually the general manager, and Erica resumed as a customer liaison. When an opportunity came up for Erica to teach with the Wolf Creek School Division, she took it.
After the couple’s first-born child came along, Erica continued to sub as a teacher, while continuing to add to their family of five. During this time, they also built numerous Sylvan Lake homes: 16 homes, 6 townhomes and 25 condos.
In 2020, the partners in life, became partners in business as co-owners of Falcon Homes.
Falcon Homes’ main office has always been in Sylvan Lake and continues to be a local business. It is incredibly important to the company to give back – and keeping it local.
“We are local and proud of it!”
With the generous support of the trades, suppliers and the Falcon Homes team, the home in Sixty West at 5 Springfield Road, is almost complete. The proceeds from the sale of this home will be donated to amazing causes, including: The Mustard Seed, Sylvan Lake Minor Hockey Jersey Replacement, digital score clock at HJ Cody High School, Elementary Schools of Sylvan Lake, Sylvan Lake Wrangler, as well as local families, events and sponsorships.
John and Erica say that they are committed to continuing on the legacy that was established by the Pardy’s almost as a “second-generation family run business.”
Falcon Homes’ decision to give the profits of the Falcon Project back to the community is a truly remarkable and inspiring act of generosity. Not only does it demonstrate the company’s commitment to making a positive impact in the communities where they build homes, but it also shows that Falcon Homes values and prioritizes the well-being of their neighbors and the greater good.
Sixty West’s president, Doug McGill is thrilled that Falcon Homes chose Sixty West for their 25th anniversary show home – and their first independent charity home project.
“We are so honoured Falcon Homes chose Sixty West for this wonderful project, they have done so much for the growth for the town of Sylvan Lake and this is just another great example.”
Doug added that as builders and developers, giving back to the town is such a key element for the vitality and growth of not only the new subdivisions, but for the entire town and the people who live here.
This incredible act of philanthropy will undoubtedly have a profound and lasting impact on the lives of those in need and it is a shining example of how a business and each person can use their gifts and successes to uplift and empower the community it serves in Sylvan Lake.
Sixty West is looking forward to more to come with this amazing project that is projected to be completed in August of this year. And, very excited to celebrate each business that is contributing to this project.
